Trip to the Science Museum

What are the chances of tossing your name into a hat, having your name drawn, and winning a year's membership to a science museum? We never win anything, so we were shocked to find out that this actually happened to us! Today, we made the first, hopefully, of many trips.

The main exhibit currently is about sharks. It was really interesting and a bunch of fun to look at!

There was a HUGE sand sculpture!

Joel and I in front of the sand sculpture. ;-)

They say that they have found all the items laid out here inside of sharks except for one. I'm guessing that one is the polar bear head. Knowing that they have gotten a hold of so many things though...

...I don't know how safe I would feel going down with sharks in nothing but a metal cage.

Real sharks were on display, but they were only two feet long.

We all got to touch them. They felt really strange.

This "Jaws" poster was another thing that was hanging up. I haven't seen the movie yet, besides small parts of it, but I'm thinking that I might see the whole thing one day. I would probably end up being scared to swim in a pool after it though!

We all took a ride in the space chairs. They are powered by air and move really really slowly.

There was a whole room packed with interactive puzzles. One that turned out to be really fun was building an arch from blocks. We built it, but it wouldn't stay up. A career in architecture is obviously not in my future. ;-)

The bone section!
At the end of our trip, we went to the IMAX theater that is part of the museum and watched a thing about sharks. It was really impressive because the screen wraps around the seats and makes you feel like you are really a part of what is happening.
It was just a fun fun afternoon!

Wow, what fun to win a years membership to a museum! Looks like a wonderful time. Sharks have always facinated me as well as scare me! :-P

I love the IMAX too...I think I may have seen the Shark film. Was it a 3D one? Those are really neat!!
