I tied and cut the last stitch on my sampler quilt last night. I'm done and it has been quite an experience. I've learned a lot of different techniques and feel better prepared for future quilting projects.
Most of the quilting was done by hand and at first, I hated it. The idea of putting a small stitch into something every 1/4" was my idea of an incredibly boring way to spend time. It became easier as time went on though and reached the point where it wasn't something I dreaded, but actually enjoyed. The credit for all my "patient" sitting while I quilted goes to movies. I won't lie. I just doubt there would have been any way to make it enjoyable without a few Jane Austen films, and some "Jon & Kate + 8", as well as all those great adventure movies. ;-)
I love all the blues! When I went to buy the fabric, I had no plan on what I wanted. Blue was something I decided on completely at random and I am so glad I did.
I wasn't sure if I was going to add the border. I was undecided about if it would detract from the inside of the quilt. Now that I've added it, I think it really helps to bring all the colors together.
I have many many blocks that are my favorite. It's hard to single out just one and say "Now that's my favorite!" My top two are probably these...
While I like this block and all the rest of the blocks with curves, they were the hardest to do. I had a lot of trouble making them to be a precise 15 1/2". They would always come up short. :-0
I'm not sure what exactly I want to do with this quilt. For sure, I want to enter in this year's fair and see if I can win something on it. I'm hoping to use it on my bed when I get married. I think it would look quite nice with some nice pillows at the head of the bed.
For now though, it feels great to be done!

I love it Micah!! It's so beautiful. The border really pulls it all together...you made a good choice! I still want a picture of how you put the blocks together...I an't seem to picture how you did the seams on the back.
WOW, Micah! That is beautiful and you did it so quickly (at least compared to Alli and me!). I love the different squares, especially the Farmer's Daughter.
Beautiful job! All those blues looke very nice together.
Yes, I keep tabs on your blog, and it took a quilt to bring me out of the woodwork. :)
